INSPIRING YOUNG MINDS
Nicola is extremely dedicated
to her students and understands the responsibilities she has when taking on the
role of teacher. She is passionate
about the connections that manifest themselves in the creative process,
sensitive to the individual needs of the students, and able to inspire and
encourage. It is a privilege for her to see young minds on the beginning of
their journeys as artists.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Having been thrown into the
deep end whilst teaching in the UK, Nicola has developed excellent classroom
management skills over the years.
A clear outline of student expectations is laid out during first
introductions and Nicola and the students make an agreement on what kind of
behaviour is acceptable. While the
classes are energetic and fun, students are reminded to be positive, helpful
participants. Her extensive experience includes working with coded children
ranging from ESL to Autistic to AFS to ADHD students.
INSIGHT INTO THE WORLD OF
AN ARTIST
Equally important is her role
as a professional actor in the Calgary community. As a working professional, she is able to offer insight into
the lifestyle of an artist, with all of its joys and frustrations. In the end, the most common question a
student will ask her is, ‘What is it like?’
